One of the newly launched products making a buzz in
the Indian makeup market right now are these creamy matte lipsticks by
Maybelline! Be it lack of good shades in drugstore foundations or sparse brow
products, affordable quality matte lipsticks or matte formula eyeshadows; there
needs to be a revolution in these categories here. Because spending on the
quality ones means making a big hole in our wallet. Anyhow, moving on these
creamy matte lipsticks
Shopping for lipsticks is always a tough task because
settling on 1-2 colors for a start requires strength. Honestly, it didn't seem
though this time. I am kind of tired of seeing the same Reds, pinks, oranges
and browns launched in almost every new release. Except for one shade which screamed
uniqueness and the shade is 'Rock the coral'! It is a very pretty dark coral
shade with warm undertones. 'Flaming fuchsia' is a hot pink shade.
The lipsticks are housed in matte Black packaging with
a color band. But as you can see, the shade of both the color bands is same
here which doesn't solves the purpose of color identification. I refer the
stickers (on bottom of lipsticks) which carry the shade name. I wonder why
'Maybelline' isn't anywhere on the lipstick. A little disappointing!
The texture of the lipsticks is creamy and glide on
lips smoothly. But these are high maintenance lipsticks. Even a little bit of
dryness on your lips and these will cling onto them badly. With passage of
time, they start to emphasize lip lines and also collect at the corner of the
lips. Also, these aren't light-weight. When I am wearing them, I can always
feel like there's something on my lips. There's that waxy and oily feeling to
them.
In terms of pigmentation, they go nearly opaque in
two swipes. With snacks and drinks in between, they stay for around 3 hours
with a lot of color faded from the centre of lips. 'Flaming Fuchsia' stays for
a longer period of time and leaves a strong tint behind.
I wanted to wear these lipsticks a lot but the fuss
with which I have to deal (Read: Checking mirror every hour to check my lips) while
wearing them stops me from doing that.
Their color sensational range have a high quality
texture and superb staying power. And when worn blotted, they look b'ful! ^_^
If you really want to lay your hands on satin matte lipsticks
that are decently priced, do give them a try. Wear them in a blotted manner,
topped with loose powder to take away a bit of that waxy texture.
